squareoff was founded by Edoardo Cavallaro, an architect whose work is guided by a clear idea: the objects we live with should have the same dignity, precision, and presence as the spaces that contain them.

Every wall sculpture, panel, and sculptural object in the squareoff collection begins as an architectural thought. A study of balance, proportion, light, shadow, and material honesty. Before it becomes something to hang on a wall, it is a way of thinking about space.

squareoff is not decoration for the sake of decoration. It is a collection of objects designed to transform a surface into a presence.

Edoardo

Edoardo Cavallaro is an architect and the founder of squareoff. His background in architecture shapes the way every piece is conceived: how a form earns its place on a wall, how light moves across a carved surface, how material can change the atmosphere of a room.

For Edoardo, a wall sculpture is not an accessory. It is an architectural object on a smaller scale. It must have rhythm, proportion, depth, and purpose.

Angelo

Angelo brings more than fifty years of experience in fine woodworking to the squareoff workshop. His knowledge of wood, tools, surfaces, and hand finishing is part of what gives each piece its physical quality.

Together, Edoardo and Angelo combine design and craftsmanship: the architectural idea and the experienced hand, the drawing and the material, the digital study and the final surface touched and refined by hand.

The Craft

Each piece is made in the squareoff workshop in Italy, from the first material selection to the final finish.

The process begins with carefully chosen materials. For selected wood pieces, we start from raw logs chosen for grain, density, and character. The wood is cut, prepared, carved, refined, and finished with attention to every detail.

For marble sculptures, we work with carefully selected Carrara marble, chosen for its natural veining, tone, and depth. The marble is shaped and refined so that light, shadow, and material become part of the same sculptural surface.

Every surface is finished by hand. This is what gives each object its final character. Edges, shadows, textures, and transitions are not secondary details. They are what make the piece feel alive when light moves across it.

No two works are identical. Natural grain, marble veining, and hand finishing make every squareoff piece unique.

Materials

squareoff works with a considered palette of materials selected for depth, durability, and visual presence.

We use woods such as ash, iroko, walnut, bubinga, and black wood finishes, together with selected materials such as Valchromat when specified. In the marble collection, we work with Carrara marble, one of the most iconic materials in Italian sculpture.

Each material is chosen not only for how it looks, but for how it responds to carving, light, and time.

Finishes are selected for longevity, surface quality, and everyday use. Depending on the piece, we use high quality acrylic varnish, natural oil, or specific finishes suited to the material.

The Workshop

The squareoff workshop is where architecture becomes matter.

It is a place of precision, patience, and direct control. Ideas are developed, tested, carved, refined, and completed within the same process. The team is intentionally small, because every piece requires attention and continuity from start to finish.

Every squareoff object is made in Italy. Every piece is checked, finished, packed, and prepared with the same care with which it was designed.

Delivery

Each squareoff piece is carefully packed for international shipping. Wall sculptures are shipped with the installation hardware included and arrive ready to hang.

Larger or more delicate works are protected in reinforced wooden crates, designed to keep the piece safe during transport.
